WOHS indoor track teams excel at Essex County meet

The West Orange High School indoor track and field teams enjoyed stellar performances at the Essex County Championships last Sunday Feb. 5 at Seton Hall University in South Orange.
Jared Mason finished second in both the 800-meter run and 1,600-meter run; Dexter Valley was second in the 400-meter run and third in the 200-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay took first to lead the WOHS boys’ team to a third-place overall finish with 47 points among the 18 scoring teams based on top-six finishes in the events. Seton Hall Prep finished fifth.
St. Benedict’s Prep won the boys’ team title. Columbia was second with 58 points. On the girls’ side, WOHS tied with Weequahic for sixth overall among the 18 scoring teams. Newark Tech won the girls’ team title.
West Orange resident Ashlynn Fields was fourth in the 800 to lead Mount St. Dominic of Caldwell.
