Arts Incubator unveils a variety of programs

The New Jersey Arts Incubator has announced its April lineup of events for the community. Visual art, music and children’s programming are all on the bill to herald spring.
Children are the focus when the NJAI presents musical theater beginning on April 10. Classes for ages 4 to 6 will feature fairy tales, stories and rhymes. The Saturday sessions are held from from 10 to 11a.m.
Classes for ages 7 to 12 feature classical and contemporary literature and will run Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each workshop ends with a performance in the NJAI Theater.
The 12-week programs continue through June 12. There is a cost to sign up and an interview is required. Call 973-669-0602 for an appointment.
The NJAI’s third art installation will be on display in the gallery beginning April 11. Titled “Power of Nine,” it features the work of nine professional women artists. The submission for the show is literally a patchwork of their combined art resulting from several years of collaboration.
The group expands creativity through looking, talking and sharing inspiration.
The art has been arranged in the form and design of patchwork quilts. Each panel is 6 feet by 6 feet and is composed of nine canvases.
The opening reception to meet the artists will be April 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibit will run through May 8. Gallery hours are Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. by appointment.
On April 23 at 7:30 p.m., NJAI will present the first Fourth Friday Music Showcase featuring Mike Rocket and the Stars, with opening act Red Reyne. Mike Rocket and the Stars is a rock, pop, and Americana band based in West Orange.
